Janel Cubbage LGPC,
Director, Suicide Prevention Chair Governor's Commission on Suicide Prevention
Linda’s personality is infectious – it is impossible to not be cheerful around her. Linda has been a champion for suicide prevention in the state of Maryland, advocating to have legislation passed addressing training for school staff to become more aware of suicide warning signs, mental distress, and bullying. Linda has not only been successful in advocating for legislation to be passed, but she has also worked with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and Text Line to create Maryland-specific cue words to connect callers or texters with Maryland crisis centers. Linda also hosts annual awareness and remembrance walks in Prince George’s County.

Linda Diaz presentation for my staff was a life changing experience for everyone who attended it. Ms. Diaz was engaging and genuine about her passion to end suicide. She provided facts that I did not know as a licensed clinician. At the end of the presentation, I wanted to cry, but her words provided me with hope. I truly admire Ms. Diaz and I am grateful she was brought into my life to share her story. She is an amazing person.
